چکیده
CASE REPORT We present the case of a patient who suffered from rupture of her left eye due to moderate blunt trauma. The lens, which was dislocated to the nasal and superior subconjunctival space, was extracted and the wound explored and repaired; when the process had stabilized secondary vitrectomy and suture of an IOL to the sulcus were performed, achieving a final visual acuity of 0.3. DISCUSSION Eye trauma is common and eye rupture may occur in those patients who have undergone ocular surgery or suffer from a debilitating condition of the eye. None of these predisposing factors existed in our case. Despite the seriousness of the problem, appropriate treatment achieved good visual function.

Inferior subconjunctival dislocation of posterior chamber intraocular lens after blunt trauma
Traumatic subconjunctival dislocation of the posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL) is a rare and emergency condition. Here, we report an interesting variation of rare case of inferior subconjuctival dislocation of PCIOL in a 75-year-old female patient following blunt trauma to her right eye with cow's head. All the previous literature with subconjuctival dislocation of PCIOL has reported t...
متن کاملIntralenticular Cilia Following Penetrating Ocular Trauma: A Case Report
Penetrating ocular trauma is one of the most important causes of vision loss, especially in men, and can be associated with intraocular foreign bodies. The incidence of intraocular cilia after trauma is very low. Here we report the case of a 24-year-old man who visited Poostchi Ophthalmology Clinic (Shiraz, Iran) due to a gradual vision loss in his left eye over the past 2 months. The probable ...
متن کاملBilateral spontaneous rupture of anterior lens capsules in a middle-aged woman
Hypermature cataracts are commonly seen in developing countries. Spontaneous rupture of the anterior capsule, resulting in dislocation of the lens nucleus into the anterior chamber, presents rarely in hypermature cataracts. We describe a middle-aged woman who presented with spontaneous anterior dislocation of the nucleus in both eyes. The presence of calcification spots in the posterior capsule...
متن کاملBlunt eye trauma: empirical histopathologic paintball impact thresholds in fresh mounted porcine eyes.
PURPOSE Ballistic studies were conducted using gelatin-embedded abattoir-fresh porcine eyes suspended within clear acrylic orbits to discern the energy required to produce specific ocular injuries. Paintball impact provides a robust ballistic model for isolating and quantifying the role of direct blunt force in ocular trauma. METHODS Fifty-nine porcine orbital preparations received direct blo...
